Binge the World, One Journey at a Time

How have your political views changed over time?

I wouldn’t say my political views have changed — they’ve quieted.

Over time, I’ve grown scared of politics rather than interested in it.

Not just national politics, but family politics, office politics, everyday power games. I find them exhausting and unsettling. I struggle to understand the language of politics, and I trust very little of what is said in speeches or debated in Parliament. It often feels less like governance and more like chaos wrapped in loud words.

What I’ve learned with age is that distance is sometimes a form of self-preservation. I choose calm over commentary, observation over outrage. Maybe that makes me uninformed in some eyes — but it keeps me sane.

If anything has changed, it’s this: I no longer expect politics to give me clarity.

I look for clarity in my own values instead.

With hope for a more thoughtful tomorrow.

Shama 🙏

Your words are not a declaration of ideology, but a quiet confession of a mature mind. Stepping back from politics is not necessarily escapism; at times, it is an act of protecting one’s inner balance. When the noise grows overwhelming, silence itself becomes a form of wisdom.
Politics was meant to offer order and direction, yet when it repeatedly becomes a source of conflict, fear, and distrust, choosing distance feels natural. Not every issue demands a reaction. Often, true understanding lies in observing rather than constantly responding.
What stands out most is your shift in expectations—you no longer look to politics for clarity, but to your own values. That is a profound realization. External systems are always changing, but inner values remain the steady ground that guides a person through uncertainty. When values are clear, circumstances lose their power to disturb the mind.
Some may call this indifference, but in truth, it is a quieter form of awareness. Throughout history, meaningful change has not come only from those who shout the loudest, but also from those who live with discernment, patience, and self-awareness.
Your hope for a “more thoughtful tomorrow” is, in itself, a powerful statement. Perhaps real change begins exactly there—when individuals first seek clarity within themselves.

Thank you for this reflection. You’ve expressed it far more eloquently than I could—especially the idea of protecting one’s inner balance.
