Binge the World, One Journey at a Time

What technology would you be better off without, why?

Honestly?
All of it. The entire technology buffet.
If I could unsubscribe from the 21st century, I would.

I want to go back to the glory days of the landline, where the whole family used to run like Olympic athletes when it rang.
Today’s kids will never know the thrill of shouting, “Don’t pick it up, it’s for ME!”

I want the postman back — the hero who brought letters, postcards, and the occasional electricity bill that ruined the whole week.
Now it’s just emails and spam promotions like: “Congratulations, you’ve won nothing!”

And I miss the time when we stood at our compound gates, gossiping with neighbours like we were Doordarshan news reporters.
Today, the only neighbourly thing we do is steal each other’s WiFi.

We used to talk.
Now we “text.”
We used to visit.
Now we send emojis.
We used to live.
Now we update status.

So yes, if I could, I’d happily downgrade my life —
from high-speed internet to high-quality conversations,
from 5G to ‘Come home for chai’,
from notifications to knocking on doors.

One day, we’ll realise the strongest connection wasn’t WiFi — it was people.

If technology doesn’t slow down, at least we can….

Take care 💞

That’s a beautiful, nostalgic sentiment about prioritizing genuine human connection over constant digital noise.
    My Comment:
I agree; the best connection is always knocking on a door, not loading a feed.

Thank you so much for this lovely comment!
Absolutely — nothing beats the simplicity of walking over, knocking on a door, and sharing a real conversation. We were far more present back then, and sometimes I think that’s the connection we’re all secretly missing.

Here’s to keeping a little bit of that old-world warmth alive, even in our hyper-digital times. 🌿✨

What a brilliant response and I agree with everything you wrote. Amen to the simpler days, of postcards and real connections, and had to laugh about the landline, yes made me smile and reminisce. We’ve paid a high price for our conveniences. But sadly I don’t think we can rewind time!

      Thank you so much, Miriam!
I’m really glad it made you smile — the landline memories get all of us, don’t they? 😊
And yes, we truly did pay a high price for all this convenience.
I agree, we can’t rewind time… but maybe we can still slow it down a little.
A postcard here, a real conversation there — tiny reminders of the world we grew up in.
Here’s to keeping those small, beautiful moments alive. 🌿✨

This hit me straight in the heart. ❤️
Your words remind us that in our race for convenience, we’ve traded presence for pings, laughter for likes, and touch for text.
I can almost hear the landline ringing, feel the thrill of letters, and taste the chai at the gate.
Yes — the strongest connection was never WiFi. It was us. Thank you for this beautiful, gentle wake-up call.

Thank you so much — ❤️
You’re right, we traded presence for pings, but the strongest connection was always us.

Those simple memories remind us what really mattered.

Grateful for your beautiful comment. 🌿✨
